What you need for your post-enrollment health journey
Congratulations! Let’s learn about some important steps to take as you continue your Medicare journey with us.
Now that you’re enrolled, it’s a great time to get to know some of the resources available to help you get the most from your coverage. We offer many sources of guidance and support to assist you in achieving your best health. Here are a few tips to maximize your benefits.
The member experience
One of the first things you’ll want to do is register at the secure member website. This is among the most important tools for communicating with Aetna® and understanding your benefits. On your secure member website you will be able to:
- View, download and print your member ID card.
- Manage communication preferences like your preferred contact information.
- Manage your claims and review your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) along with other plan documents online.
Collectively, your plan documents can answer many of the questions you may have about your coverage.
If you’re interested in detailed information, you can also find a complete Evidence of Coverage (EOC) document online. This provides an in-depth description of your coverage that details everything from specific plan benefits to how much you will pay. If your plan includes prescription drug coverage, you will find a list of medications covered in your plan’s formulary.
Going beyond the basics
Once you’ve got the basics down, you can also use your secure member website to begin exploring how you can use your benefits. For example, there is an area on the site where you can select or change your primary care physician (PCP). If you’re new to Medicare, once you’ve selected your PCP you can ask your doctor about setting up a “Welcome to Medicare” exam at no extra cost.
If your plan includes prescription drug coverage, you can use your secure member website to find pharmacies, estimate the cost of your medications and manage your mail order and prescriptions through tasks like ordering refills.
Accessing helpful benefits
Your plan also comes with helpful programs such as telehealth services, an MDLIVE behavioral health program, 24-hour nurse line, personalized case management support and more, at no extra cost to you. And you can schedule a Healthy Home Visit where a licensed doctor or nurse practitioner comes to your home to give you a health assessment. The provider can even check your home for potential health and safety risks, like places that may increase your risk for falling.
Some plans also offer Resources For Living® (RFL), a program to help find services and support in your community. Looking for qualified home repair vendors, emergency services or volunteer opportunities? Our consultants will research, at no cost to you, the options in your area and give you details on the ones that meet your specific needs.
